Winning the toss, Stanford A2 chose to bat. Stanford lost few quick wickets, further NCCA Youth Teams bowling made it difficult for Stanford A2 to score freely. After the adult trio of Sujesh, Deval and Apporva, the young brigade took over. From over number 15 all the way upto over 40+ the young bowlers had a wise grip on the opposition. Stanford A2 managed to score 191 of their stipulated 45 overs, thanks mainly to a whirlwind 61 no by Swaroop. Chasing 192 to win, the NCCA Youth Team started very well. Appu and Vibhav gave the kind of start the team deserved. Though Deval got out early, Sujesh and Vibhav played good cricket to move the score forward. Once Sujesh got out it was the turn of Harris to partner with Vibhav and continue the good work. He did justice to his promotion and clipped some handy runs in the teams cause. Once Harris and Brahmam got out in quick succession, Sunil Kumar joined Vibhav. Needing 70+ runs to win these two stiched a valuable partnership. With 25 runs to get in 4 overs, Vibhav was out. This brought Srijith Sunil (Jingu) to the crease. The father son duo ensured that the score was achieved with one over to spare. NCCA Youth starts the season with a win, I thank the entire team for great team work and commitment - it augurs well for the future. The team has one win under its belt and now looks forward to the season which holds great promise for all in both forms of cricket. Go NCCA Youth!! SK
