Match notes :
United-II won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a disastrous start. Both of their opening batsmen were back in the hut mid-way through the second over of the match at the score of 1 run. This was made possible through 2 run outs (1 each by Sathar C and Anshuman C). Sathar C, the new find of Thunderbolts struck in the 4th ball of second over again. United-II were 3 wickets down for 1 run. Thunderbolts were on top but Sonu G counter attacked in the 6th over of the match hitting three big sixes to Sathar who gave away a total of 28 runs in that over. The fourth wicket partnership continued till the break time. By then, United-II's score had progressed to 72 for the loss of 3 wickets. After the break, captain Ankit S brought himself on to bowl his leg spinners. He struck immediately and there was no looking back from then on as wickets started tumbling at regular intervals. United-II were eventually bowled out for 107. Ankit was the peak of the bowlers taking 4 wickets for 15 runs in 8.1 overs. As usual, Ganesh T bowled beautifully grabbing two wickets in his 9 overs giving away 19 runs. The ground fielding of Thunderbolts was awesome which reflects in the three run outs that resulted. One of them was a superb direct throw run out by Neil Tagare from 45 yards. The target of 108 runs was small but it still needed to be scored. Raj B and Suraj V went to open the inning for Thunderbolts. Unlike United-II, Thunderbolts got off to a good start scoring 25 runs in 4 overs without losing any wicket. But United-II struck back with a flurry of wickets. Before any one could realize, Thunderbolts were 57 for 7 wickets and the target of 108 seemed quite far. But Anshuman C who has been playing under the shadows of other recognized batsmen in the team, chose the right time to step up. More importantly, he received great support from Kartik S who is new to Thunderbolts and trying to find his spot. Both of them played simple cricket without any panic and put on a match winning partnership of 51 runs thereby leading the team to victory in the 34th over. With this, Thunderbolts win-loss record stands at 3-0 in their debut season in NCCA.
